Squid Game: The Drinking Game

Looking for a brutal, hilarious party game that mixes strategy, sabotage, and shots? Enter Squid Game: The Drinking Game — a wild, unofficial adaptation of the Korean survival hit where your liver is the real contestant.

This version transforms the tense, nail-biting trials of the show into unforgettable drinking challenges. No cash prize. No mercy. Just cups, chaos, and questionable decisions.

What is Squid Game: The Drinking Game?

Inspired by the global phenomenon Squid Game, this drinking game mimics the show’s high-stakes format with party-friendly (and legally safe) mini-games. Each round is a challenge. Players are eliminated via drinks, dares, and drama. The last person standing earns bragging rights and the sweet relief of not having to down another shot.

Who Can Play?

  • Minimum players: 6
  • Ideal range: 8–12 for maximum betrayal and banter
  • Maximum: As many as you can keep track of without someone passing out under the table

What You Need

  • Shot glasses (lots)
  • Alcohol (soju for the theme, but anything goes)
  • A deck of playing cards
  • Cookies for each player
  • Post-it notes or masking tape (for player numbers)
  • A host or “Front Man” (optional, but highly recommended)

Setup Instructions

  1. Each player draws a number (1, 2, 3, etc.) and sticks it to their chest.
  2. Create a central game table with shot glasses filled and ready.
  3. Designate a Front Man to run the show and add mysterious flair.
  4. Pick 5–6 rounds (or go until the crowd demands mercy).

Round 1: Red Light, Green Light (Drinklight Edition)

  • Players line up across the room, each holding a full shot.
  • The Front Man turns away and shouts “Green Light!”
  • Players move forward.
  • When “Red Light!” is called, the Front Man spins around.
  • Anyone still moving must drink their shot.
  • First player to reach the finish line is safe.
  • Everyone else drinks again and moves on to Round 2.

Round 2: Honeycomb Chocolate Chip Pull

  • Each player gets a chocolate chip cookie.
  • Each team and player races to pull out exactly 10 chocolate chips using only one hand.
  • If a player fails the timer: they drink.
  • If they succeed: they’re safe and can choose another player to drink.
  • Game master to verify the chocolate chips don’t have excess biscuit on them.

Round 3: Glug of War

  • Divide players into two equal teams.
  • Drinks for each player are lined up in a row the person at the front must feed the drink to the person behind them. They must then supply the drink to the person behind them to feed to the person behind them.
  • You can only supply your drink to the person behind you.
  • They must not hold their own drink, this must be given to them by the player in front.
  • On the last drink the player in front must pass back the last drink, run to the back of the line and receive their shot.

Round 4: Marbles of Misery

  • Each team secretly chooses a number between 1 and 10.
  • Opponent must guess if it’s odd or even.
  • Get it right: the other team drinks.
  • Get it wrong: you drink.
  • Do this 3 times per team. The team with fewer correct guesses drinks an extra shot at the end.

Round 5: Glass Bridge of Booze

  • Place 2 shot glasses per player in 2 lines in front of each team.
  • Some are filled with water, some with vodka or strong clear alcohol. Only the Front Man knows which is which.
  • Each row of drinks must have 1 water and 1 alcoholic shot.
  • Each player takes turns selecting shots.
  • If a team gets 3 alcohol shots in a row, they’re eliminated and must drink all remaining shots.

Optional Round 6: The Final Flip (1v1 Showdown)

  • The last two players enter a coin-flip duel.
  • Take turns flipping a coin.
  • Heads: you’re safe.
  • Tails: drink.
  • First person to refuse to flip again or fall over loses.
  • If you flip a coin and fail to catch it on your palm. You’re out.

Elimination Rule Between Rounds

  • After each round, the winning team can choose one player from the losing team to eliminate.
  • The losing team writes down one name to save.
  • If both teams name the same person, no one is eliminated.
  • If they choose different people, the winning team’s choice is eliminated.
  • The goal is to reach the final round with the most players remaining — more players means spreading the shots and increasing your chance of survival.

Winning the Game

There are no official winners. Only survivors.

Drink Sensibly

  • Know your limits. This game is meant for fun, not for hospital visits.
  • Take breaks between rounds.
  • Have snacks and water available.
  • Make soft drinks an option.
  • Never pressure someone to drink.

Why Squid Game: The Drinking Game Works

It’s a mix of skill, sabotage, and suspense. Every round creates tension and laughter. Players never know what’s coming next or who they can trust. It turns a passive drinking night into a full-blown event.

This game works in back gardens, house parties, college dorms, and anywhere with poor decision-making and high tolerance.

Final Thoughts

Prepare your drinks. Betray your friends. Pray for mercy.

Because in this game, you win by staying on your feet.
